Messages from Representatives
It has been 54 years since our school was established here on the hills of Pallinghurst in 1972. Over these years, we have received warm encouragement and support from many people, including our local friends here in the UK. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for this. Through this OPEN DAY, we hope you will come to know more about Rikkyo School—and about Japan itself—by experiencing the students’ heartfelt performances and creative works, each made with great dedication and effort. This year’s slogan is “Feel Japan. Feel Rikkyo.” It is a celebration of culture that can only be experienced here at Rikkyo. Under this theme, our students have spent much time preparing for today’s event, all for your enjoyment. We sincerely hope you will feel their passion and determination as they pursue their infinite potential in each of their presentations. Surrounded by the beautiful scenery of Southern England, please relax and enjoy this autumn day with us.
This year’s OPEN DAY marks the culmination of our school’s dynamic transformation over the past three turbulent years, symbolizing the realization of a new era. With strong principles, each student has thought, realized, and taken action, carrying our cherished traditions forward into a new form. We hope that through each classroom project—filled with our students’ sincerity and passion—you will experience the charm of our school and Japanese culture. Changing in order to stay true to who we are.
First and foremost, thank you very much for your interest in the Rikkyo School in England OPEN DAY. This year’s event features a wide variety of projects, brought to life through the collaborative efforts of students from the 6th grade to high school seniors. As this will be my final OPEN DAY, I look forward to welcoming you with all my energy and enthusiasm. All of our students, faculty, and staff sincerely hope that your time with us will be a wonderful experience.
